My Engagement Story: Jamie
My Engagement Story: Jamie
We always love getting the chance to ask our newly engaged couples usually at the engagement session HOW they got engaged! So we thought this was the perfect time to tell our personal engagement stories to you guys!
If you haven’t checked out Erin’s story click here cause it’s super cute and it takes place at a wedding!? *gasp*
So David and I have been dating since 2012 and after about 3-4 years of dating, we starting having conversations about marriage and continuing our lives together. A lot of our friends started to get married at that time (Not that we felt pressure to get married because they were.) just facts, it started to happen around us more and the conversation kept coming up! We both always wanted to get married so we knew it was in our near future. During one of our many marriage/engagement conversations, I mentioned that in an ideal world I would love the engagement photographed but I’m also a very shy 'don’t look at me person’ in vulnerable moments. My personal nightmare would be him proposing on TV or at a sports game (LOL SPORTS.) a public setting with a lot of eyes watching would be just the worst for me. I would totally run away even if my answer was yes in that moment.
Some throwbacks for you…
So David definitely took all those breadcrumbs into account when he planned the proposal. Planned is kinda a loose word after chatting with him because he said he bought it and was just waiting for a good moment, and boy did he find one.
Every Christmas for the past 6-7 years I take a cheesy Christmas photos and then include it with my Christmas cards that I send in the mail… yes I am that person.
So the day was December 4th 2017 and it was time to photograph the annual portrait including David and I and our cat Pancake. I set up my tripod and turned it on to take 5 photos in a row because cats aren’t exactly into photo sessions, so it’s definitely a quick process! I remember getting the money shot of Pancake looking at the camera and then I ran over to the camera and turned it off and started to disassemble. Here’s said money shot by our mini Christmas tree:
(Pancake in a bow tie and everything c’mon.)
Then David said, “Let’s take a few more!” This was weird because even though he is super photogenic he isn’t exactly super into getting his photo taken. I remember being kind of over photos at that point but just since it’s so rare for David to want more photos I was said sure and set it to take 5 more photos. & this is what happened, I’ll let the photos show you:
I said yes in case you were in suspense.
What a sneak! Got me to photograph my own engagement!!
& it was perfect.
